Authentic Kashmiri Copperware by Copper Smith
A Legacy Forged in Copper

14th Century: The Royal Beginning

The Sufi mystic Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani arrives in Kashmir with 700 Persian artisans, introducing the noble craft of 'Kandkari' (copperwork) to the valley. It is immediately embraced by royalty, establishing a legacy of unparalleled luxury.

16th-18th Century: Mughal Patronage

Under the patronage of Mughal emperors, the art flourishes. Intricate 'Naqashi' (hand-engraving) evolves, featuring complex chinar leaf, floral, and calligraphic designs that transform everyday items into masterpieces for royal courts.

19th Century: Heart of the Home

The iconic Kashmiri Samovar becomes central to daily life. No longer just for the elite, handcrafted copperware finds its way into every household, becoming synonymous with hospitality, warmth, and the sacred ritual of brewing *Noon Chai*.

Today: A Tradition Preserved

In the heart of Srinagar, master artisans—descendants of those same royal craftsmen—continue to forge these heirlooms by hand, hammering and engraving each piece in a process that takes days, not hours, to complete.
